A downloadable game

Checkers 2.0 for the Commodore PET.

Back in 1979, I wrote a program to play checkers on my Commodore PET.  I managed to get it published in Cursor Magazine, a monthly magazine of Commodore PET programs published on cassette tapes.  It appeared in issue #20, May 1980.  Checkers! was written in BASIC and is embarrassingly slow.

Now, more than 40 years later, I have rewritten Checkers in 6502 assembly language.  It is much more playable.

Move pieces by entering the number of the starting square, followed by a dash (minus sign), and the number of the destination square.  Enter H or ? at the input prompt to get a help screen.
